About AUDREY ROBILLARD
My journey as a photographer begun as a junior in high school while enrolled in an introduction to Journalism and Communications class. My Journalism teacher handed me a Polaroid point and shoot camera and sent me out to photograph random scenes around the school for the school newspaper and yearbook. She later critiqued several of my pictures and encouraged me to continue practicing and developing my photography skills. My journalism teacher believed that I had a talent for photography. I pursued Journalism and Communications in college, which resulted in a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting Communications from the University of Florida.
I found an extra love for taking pictures and my cameras lived in the trunk of my car. I developed an interest in teaching and taught a course in basic photography and journalism to middle school students, including how to develop the black and white film. Several of my students have become successful photographers and videographers. One student won a national photography contest of his pictures taken after Hurricane Andrew. Another is a successful and respectful videographer and photographer who works for the Atlanta Journal.
Over the past thirty years, I have had the privilege of traveling to several countries around the world including England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Mexico, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, and Jamaica. A few of these countries I have visited more than once. I have used my photographic skills and creative talents to capture a series of unique and beautiful pictures from around the world and as close as my backyard.
During the 80s and early 90s, I worked with local South Florida reggae music producers to photograph Jamaican performers in local parks and night clubs. I was one of two women photographers with access to legendary or rising stars among the reggae artists. I was fortunate in gaining access to get close-up and intimate shots of popular and rising performers. I was a young paparazzo. My passion for this medium is addictive. My cameras are my weapon of choice for capturing the soul and scenes of the world around me. My favorite cameras still shoot film. I am rapidly developing into the digital world and continue to enjoy the art of photography and creative designs.
Thanks for visiting my website browsing my collections. I hope you enjoy my photos.
